About The Club
The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 when the National Association of Secondary School Principals passed a resolution calling for its creation. The focus of NHS was to recognize and encourage academic achievement while promoting other characteristics essential to democracy. Students who reflect the positive qualities of character, leadership, and service are encouraged to participate in the Society. After more than 75 years, the National Honor Society continues to grow and has more than 12,500 chartered chapters.
From its inception, NHS was created to encourage strong academic performance, a continuation of democracy, and an instrument for the betterment of the individual, school, and community. As a member of the (NHS), the student signifies his/her commitment to share his/her talents with other students, school, and community. Juniors and seniors who have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and have participated in honors and/or advanced placement classes are eligible to be considered for membership and are invited to do apply.
