The Hartford Girls Basketball Program is centered around providing an unparalleled experience for all involved. The program prioritizes the needs of the whole versus the needs of a particular team or individual. Decisions are made through a consistent ethical framework to better the athlete as a person first and player second. Accountability at all times is essential for all stakeholders within the organization.
From an offensive standpoint, Hartford will be a program that looks to push the pace as much as possible. An analytical approach to scoring will be implemented to help define what shots we want to take and decide what system we utilize to get those shots. Skill development will be essential and present in all practices at all levels.
Defensively, we will look to apply pressure. We want to make opponents feel as if they are being constantly bombarded by defender after defender. This wears teams down both mentally and physically, creating for a great advantage late in games. Defensive skills will be incorporated daily in practice with an emphasis on finishing possessions physically with a rebound. Accountability is again a must for all stakeholders when playing defense.
To achieve this style of play, athletes will be encouraged to participate in our strength, speed, and conditioning programs at the high school. The weight room will be an asset to our organization's growth and culture. Students will be encouraged to play multiple sports and it is essential for all athletes to maintain a well-rounded and healthy lifestyle.
